Job Description Summary

The Equipment and Facilities Manager is responsible for the management, oversight, and maintenance of up to 6000 square feet of photography and video facilities, film processing, and an extensive media equipment inventory of photography, film, video, and animation equipment (including cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and related accessories). The Manager maintains, inventories, purchases, and services all equipment and film chemistries. Additionally, the Manager supervises the organization and functionality of the department's photographic processing facilities, studios, and classrooms, including the five designated Silverstein labs and studios.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage Web Checkout, an online inventory database checkout system. Coordinate courses and students with IT staff, facilitating database access to Web Checkout. Authenticate Web Checkout student accounts. Maintain and update the enrollment script capture and the new student integration in the system.
  • Coordinate course authorizations and student enrollments to specified groups and coordinate with the Fine Arts office. Administer responsibility for purchasing consumables for the equipment room.
  • Operate and manage equipment checkout for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Research and purchase new equipment and / or repair and renew existing equipment in response to equipment condition, curricular need, and evolving technologies. Order equipment and supplies within the operational budget; manage and maintain the equipment inventory producing a yearly equipment and facilities report-exercise resource stewardship.
  • Provide technical instructional support to faculty, students, technicians, teaching assistants, and work-study personnel. Coordinate and support workshops each semester for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with equipment room policies and protocols, including the processing of equipment loan agreements, and manage late fees and fines reports with part-time staff.
  • Manage part-time staff and work-study personnel and ensure compliance with related University policies and procedures. Report known or expected irregularities to the immediate supervisor.
  • Manage facilities; maintain and service all equipment and supplies, including chemistry and research; and comply with all OSHA / NIOSH safety standards under the oversight of the Office of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety.
  • Supervise the organization and functionality of the photographic processing facilities, studios, and classrooms, including the five designated Silverstein labs and studios.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Technical expertise in photo / video / animation equipment
  • Able to work with a diverse community of faculty and students
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask / prioritize.

    Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
