Join our dedicated team in the Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU / Neuro ICU), where you will provide specialized care to critically ill adults (14 and older). Our unit features a total of 30 intensive care beds, accommodating a balanced patient population of neuro and surgical cases.
The focus of our care includes treating life-threatening conditions related to major surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, seizures, sepsis, and multi-organ system failure. As a crucial member of our nursing staff, you will perform comprehensive physical assessments, intense monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a robust skill set, including but not limited to :
- ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt
- Spinal drains / catheters
- Brain oxygen monitoring
- Artic Sun therapy
- Continuous EEG
- Intra-arterial catheter
- Non-invasive cardiac output monitoring
- Mechanical ventilation
- Continuous renal replacement therapy
- Reconstructive flap monitoring
- Massive blood transfusion management

Implement physician orders, administer medications, and perform various treatments and procedures with documentation as per policy and regulations.Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.Assess patient needs and responses to care provided.Employ sound nursing judgment in decision-making.Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses.Administer medications as prescribed.Collaborate on Plans of Care for all patients.Guide ancillary personnel while upholding professional nursing standards.Minimum Qualifications :
Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree).Current NYS Registered Nurse license.Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).Prior experience as a PCA or nursing assistant is preferred.Willingness to improve job performance through continuing education.Knowledge of quality concepts and principles, and ability to support quality improvement initiatives.Thank you for considering a career at Albany Medical Center!
