THE POSITION

The Department of Revenue is on the lookout for candidates to fill our Tax Examiner 1 positions, playing a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive financial information. As a Tax Examiner, you will leverage your technical tax knowledge and experience to research and review individual tax returns. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be tasked with examining and processing tax payments and credits, ensuring their accurate allocation, and reviewing correspondence related to individual tax notices. You will gain skills in assessing and applying tax credits to individual tax returns, as well as reviewing the legal documents that accompany these returns. Additionally, you will learn to utilize both internal and external resources to aid in the review and processing of returns and related correspondence. Your responsibilities will also include analyzing responses to individual tax notices and making necessary adjustments to the returns, along with identifying and correcting any misapplied payments within the tax system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework : You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week after successful completion of required in-office training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary : Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685
