Pediatric Hospitalist – Critical Care (CVICU)

We are seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist for our Critical Care Division to function within the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU). With demonstrated expertise in pediatric inpatient care, the Pediatric Hospitalist will function in a hospitalist role as a clinical expert in the management of pediatric cardiac intensive care patients within a family‑centered care environment.

Under the direction of the attending CVICU attending and practicing within developed standardized procedures and process protocols, the Pediatric Hospitalist will evaluate, diagnose and treat cardiac medical patients as well as pre‑ and post‑operative / catheterization cardiac patients. Central to the role, the Pediatric Hospitalist will assist in developing and implementing plans of care for all patients in the CVICU. The Pediatric Hospitalist functions in collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary cardiac team, while also providing consultation and education to patients and their families.

The successful candidate will have a California medical license and be board eligible / board certified in General Pediatrics with the American Board of Pediatrics. Although not mandatory, the ideal candidate will be board eligible / board certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine with the American Board of Pediatrics. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Together, we will help attract the nation’s top experts, while retaining the leading physicians and staff at both of our institutions. We will also partner to advance innovation, research and education.

CHOC opened its new, state‑of‑the‑art 24‑bed CVICU in February 2025.
