About NorthTex Construction
NorthTex Construction (NTC) is a growing construction company focused on earthwork, site development, and infrastructure-related projects across Texas. Our success is built on disciplined operations, well-maintained equipment, and a team that takes pride in doing things the right way.
We operate a modern fleet of heavy construction equipment and place a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance, safety, and uptime. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic who understands the demands of a construction environment and values quality workmanship, accountability, and consistency.
Position Overview
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring equipment is properly maintained, diagnosed, and repaired to minimize downtime. This position works closely with operations and management to keep machines reliable, safe, and ready for production.
This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and suited for a mechanic who is comfortable working in both shop and field environments within an active construction operation.
Key Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment used in daily operations. This includes mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems. The mechanic will conduct inspections, identify issues before failure, and execute repairs efficiently to support project schedules.
Additional responsibilities include documenting completed work, communicating equipment status clearly, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and coordinating with supervisors regarding repair timelines and parts needs. Field service work may be required depending on operational demands.
Equipment & Systems
You will work on a fleet that includes dozers, excavators, loaders, rollers, skid steers, and other heavy construction equipment commonly used in earthwork and site development. Experience working with modern diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and electronic diagnostics is essential.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a minimum of three years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic within a construction or industrial environment. A strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs is required. Candidates must be reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards.
A valid driver’s license is required. Candidates should have their own basic hand tools; specialty tools will be provided by the company.
Preferred Experience
Experience performing field service repairs, familiarity with diagnostic software, and bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are considered strong assets but are not required.
Compensation & Growth
NTC offers competitive compensation based on experience, consistent year-round work, and opportunities for long-term growth within the company. We value skilled tradespeople and provide a work environment built on respect, accountability, and clear expectations.
Why NorthTex Construction
At NTC, equipment reliability matters. We invest in our fleet, our people, and our processes. This is an opportunity to be part of a construction company that values structure, professionalism, and pride in workmanship—without unnecessary bureaucracy.
