Apogee Solutions is seeking a Lead Modeling and Simulation Analyst to support the United States Air Force’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Training and Readiness at the Pentagon. Qualified candidates must have a Secret clearance.
The Lead Modeling and Simulation Analyst serves as the lead technician integrating the efforts of software engineering and data analytics. The Training and Readiness Directorate is the Air Staff’s focal point to assist, orchestrate, and implement readiness analysis actions for current and future operations across the Air Force, to include weapons system sustainment, operational training infrastructure, critical skills personnel shortages, flying hour analysis, and deployment ratios.
The Lead Modeling and Simulation Analyst will :
- Serve as the lead analysis technician integrating the efforts of Software Engineering and Data Analysts with overall team tasks as guided by the Program Manager.
- Test, critique, and employ working models directed by the Program Manager.
- Recognize non-conforming model behaviors and supporting troubleshooting of model structure and data management concept.
- Use a range of modeling and simulation tools as well as statistical analysis techniques.
- Use techniques in development within Java and .NET.
- Demonstrate knowledge of software security practices and requirements for deployment within the Air Force information technology enterprise.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Government-owned readiness reporting, prediction, and analysis software.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting on core readiness models.
- Lead a computer and database / network team in work similar to that of the PM.
- Conduct independent quality assurance and verification and validation in a Java development environment.
- Review, test, validate, and accredit systems used with AF / A3T.
- Serve as the conduit between operations analysis team members and data analysis team members,. translating the needs of operations analysts into actionable tasks for the software and data analysts.
- Apply understanding of AF operations, analytic techniques and processes, as well as computer programmer / database specialties.
- Maintain, update, and modify existing Government-owned and commercial off the shelf (GOTS and COTS) computer systems, databases, and all other predictive readiness modeling and simulation tools (hardware and software) as necessary to support analytic tasks under the direction of the Program Manager.
- Conduct detailed research and analyses to assist in development and support of implementation plans, executive reports, and existing reports and projects.
- Implement changes to hardware / software in an extremely fast manner to support two-hr. to four-day response timelines which are required approximately once every month.
- Lead analyst for modeling and simulation to accomplish all tasks (implement software / hardware changes) via telephone, e-mail, and other quick-turn communications with Program Manager and the rest of the team.
- Manage the implementation of systems and their deployment on the SIPRNET or other classified networks as well as all Certification and Accreditation (C&A) functions required to be performed prior to deployment.
- Work closely with customers and analysts in the gathering, documenting and approval of requirements.
- Direct and lead a team of software engineers by developing project plans, tracking project execution, managing changes, and developing and executing implementation plans.
- Develop and implement improved configuration management plan to streamline the overall processes, decrease time managing and submitting inputs to the program. Configuration plan should be on-par for acceptance into the CMMI level- two development environment.
- Performs all other analytic tasks in support of AF / A3TR and / or as directed by the Program Manager.
Required Experience
Active DOD Secret ClearanceBachelor’s degree in computer science or possess equivalent experienceA minimum of 10 years of experience in modeling and simulation within the Department of DefenseAt least 2 years of experience leading an IT teamAbility to test, critique, and employ working models as well as experience recognizing non-conforming model behaviors, supporting troubleshooting of model structure and data management concepts, and utilizing core readiness modelsWorking knowledge of a wide range of modeling and simulation tools as well as statistical analysis techniquesFamiliarity with Java and .NETDemonstrated knowledge of software security requirements and practices within the Air Force information technology enterprisePrior experience in conducting independent quality assurance, verification, and validation within a Java environment
