Markey's, a multi-state leading provider of creative audio-visual services, is seeking a Full-Time Lead Event Technician to join our team in downtown Indianapolis. The Lead Event Technician is a client-facing position responsible for designing, setting up and operating a variety of high-end audio equipment for live / virtual / hybrid client meetings and events hosted at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. Responsible for ensuring the clear transmission of sound across the venue of an event or meeting. Also responsible for leading technical crews, trouble-shooting any issues, and tearing down (striking) equipment post-event.
Hiring for a Full-Time, hourly (non-exempt) position, eligible for overtime. Evening and weekend availability will be a requirement for this position.
Position Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients, Venue Team and other Event Technicians to ensure the successful completion of events.
- Lead the technical operations for assigned events, overseeing and directing the technical crew.
- Support the Director of Event Technology with operations and logistics as needed. This could include scheduling, reviewing gear orders from Headquarters, and ensuring gear is ready and organized for pickup.
- Assist in supervising any rigging taking place at the venue.
- Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound systems, recording equipment, and a variety of mixing consoles.
- Set-up, tear-down, loading and unloading of all equipment.
- Operate all systems designed to deliver high fidelity to a group of 80, or 800, attendees alike on both live and hybrid events.
- Provide excellent customer service and promptly handle any equipment changes / requests.
- Ensure equipment is functional, and installed according to designated layout.
- Trouble-shoot any equipment issues with satisfactory resolution.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of tech areas.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned to ensure success of Markey’s events.
Requirements
Must have a good working knowledge of all types of audiovisual equipment including operation, set-up, troubleshooting, and explanation of equipment.Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently, and follow directions from the Event Manager, Director of Event Technology, and / or Crew Lead.Must have the ability to lead a team of technicians for larger events.Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients.Ability to maintain a positive and professional appearance and attitude at all times.Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional and positive manner.Must possess a high level of attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities.Ability to follow directions and implement assigned tasks in a timely fashion.Ability to embrace Markey’s culture and demonstrate company values, respect diversity, and follow all company policies and procedures.Physical demands include frequent bending, pushing / pulling gear, and lifting up to 70 lbs.Become a part of our team!
