[job_card.job_description]Load and unload heavy equipment using ramps, winches, or self-loading methods Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and blocking per DOT standards Verify weight distribution and axle limits Inspect securement before, during, and after transport Obtain and comply with oversize / overweight permits when required Maintain logbooks, trip reports, and shipping documents Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports (DVIRs) Perform daily inspections of tractor, trailer, and tie-down equipment Identify mechanical issues and report or arrange repairs Follow job-site and highway safety procedures Use spotters and proper signaling during loading / unloading Fuel equipment prior to transportation Communicate with dispatchers, site supervisors, and equipment operators Coordinate escorts or pilot cars when required Operate equipment to position it for transport Maintain cleanliness and organization of truck and trailer Work extended hours, nights, or weekends as needed Valid Class A CDL (often with endorsements) Knowledge of heavy equipment and load securement standards Ability to work in all weather and demanding conditions Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

A Class A heavy equipment transporter is responsible for hauling, loading, and securing oversized and heavy construction equipment safely and legally between job sites.
Driving & Transport
- Operate Class A commercial vehicles (lowboys, flatbeds, step decks, RGN trailers)
- Transport heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and grinders
- Plan routes considering height, weight, width, and road restrictions
- Comply with DOT, FMCSA, and state transportation regulations
