About The Position

Experience : Minimum 1 year experience as a Rad Tech and 1 year experience in Mammography preferred
License : ARRT Mammography, ARRT Radiography
Certifications : BLS - Basic Life Support

Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures.
Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in equipment utilization for disease diagnosis and / or treatment.
Able to independently perform job functions.
Sets up equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures.
Must maintain minimum FDA / MQSA requirements for continuing education, experience, and equipment.
Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and markers are utilized appropriately.
Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
Responds to emergency situations.
Uses critical thinking skills and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
Observes patient conditions and evaluates situations for physician intervention as necessary.
Verifies two unique patient identifiers per policy and verifies proper clinician order before performing a procedure.
Ensures patient privacy and comfort are provided.
Demonstrates competence in the determination and application of appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age.
Understands and documents Pre-Procedure Verification and Time-Out processes when appropriate.
Demonstrates and understands pre-and-post procedural care when applicable.
Demonstrates and understands sterile technique when applicable.
Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Follows physicians' instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
Practices RBAC (Read Back and Confirm) when taking verbal orders.
Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique for optimal imaging quality.
Reports equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or service provider.
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to infection control policies and cleaning schedules.
Explains purpose and nature of exams to patients clearly to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation.
Addresses patient questions and concerns satisfactorily, notifying physicians when this cannot be accomplished.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures.
Ensures documentation is concise and legible with precise terminology.
Reads email daily when scheduled to work and follows through with assignments.
Completes mandatory education without prompting.
Produces acceptable images, maintaining a first-time acceptance rate of 95 percent.
Ensures equipment is operational prior to each use by checking calibration and operating deficiencies.
Completes all studies in RIS, ensuring proper orientation, marking, and labeling before sending studies to PACS.
Maintains documentation to meet accreditation standards.
Knowledgeable in completing and documenting ACR / MQSA QC tests.
Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining the department in clean and orderly condition.
Transports and positions patients, assisting them on and off the procedure table.
Performs patient charging activities on the service day.
Applies shielding and prepares patient follow-up data.
Lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed to ensure efficient use of departmental time.
