Qualifications
- Must be available 24 hours per day when on call
- Must be able to provide proof of rabies vaccinations
- Must live within 10 miles of Westport, MA
- Must have a background in wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary care, or animal law enforcement
- Familiarity with animal behavior and control laws
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in report preparation
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Responsibilities
- Ability to work in various environments, confined spaces and various weather conditions
- Catching and transporting deceased animals, and strays to veterinary offices for euthanasia
- Ability to work independently and build positive relationships with the public and veterinary community
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and traumatic situations involving harmed or distressed animals with integrity, compassion, and professionalism
- Cleaning and disinfecting Animal Control vehicles
- Cleaning and maintaining the Animal Control Facility, including runs and cages
- Educating the public on the welfare of pets and importance of canine licenses
Schedule:
- Part-time with the possibility of overnights as needed
- On call (7 days over 2 weeks)
- Week 1: On call for 2 days; Week 2: On call for 5 days
- No more than 20 hours per week
Pay:
- $70 per day for each day on call even if not needed!
- If you are called in, you are paid $24 per call + $70 for the day
