Position Description Summary
The Clinical Instructor's (CI) responsibilities focus on education, supervision, and evaluation of students in clinical settings.
Hours are variable Monday through Friday. The CI must have reliable transportation to travel to various clinical sites throughout southeast Michigan.
Core Competencies and Qualifications
- Earned Associate's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution required. Current credential as an ARRT with a minimum of 2 years' work experience in Radiography required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to
Devote 100% of their clinical time to student instruction.
- Exhibit a positive professional attitude toward students and the teaching process.
- Demonstrate knowledge of program goals, clinical objectives, clinical evaluation systems, and Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accreditation standards.
- Support highly structured educational activities.
- Demonstrates the principles of image production and positioning in a clinical setting.
- Provide one-on-one clinical instruction and supervise clinical education for students at a clinical site.
- Provide mentoring and emotional support to students in stressful situations.
- Coach students in professional behavior for the clinical setting.
- Perform radiographic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures.
- Complete in a timely manner clinical procedure and competency testing documentation for students in accordance with the clinical course syllabus for that semester.
- Complete in a timely manner student clinical evaluations and document student progress as required by program policies, JRCERT standards, and ARRT requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clinical site supervisors and management.
- Participate in Clinical Instructor meetings.
- Adhere to schedules posted for each semester in a reliable and responsible manner.
