Integration Charter Schools is dedicated to providing innovative pathways to college that fully integrate students with special needs. In building a family of associated schools that share this common mission, ICS strives to fill gaps in public education. The ICS network is composed of four schools located on Staten Island, New York. The guiding principles of ICS are teamwork, courage, community and integrity.

With 43% of our network's student population identified as needing individualized support, we center universal design and equitynot as a matter of compliance, but as a catalyst for innovation.

Integration Charter Schools is looking for passionate and creative education professionals to join our Teacher Resident team at each of our network of charter schools. Teacher Resident

at ICS, you will play a crucial role in creating inclusive pathways to academic and social-emotional success for all types of learners in the classroom. You will work collaboratively with teachers, students, families, and colleagues to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and organized classroom so that student learning is maximized
  • Co-plan and implement ICS curriculum to ensure all students meet academic benchmarks
  • Support lead teacher with regular meetings and outreach to families, including daily documentation and notes, classroom celebrations, and family informational sessions
  • Implementing school-wide positive behavior incentive policies and logical consequences
  • Working collaboratively with the school leadership team, colleagues and the ICS Office of Teaching and Learning to enrich the learning experience for our students in the classroom
  • Engaging in coaching and implementing research-based strategies that maximize their own performance and that of their students
  • Actively participate in professional development throughout the school year beginning in August.
  • Reflecting on their own progress as educators and seeking out professional resources to continuously improve their practice
  • Celebrating student progress and effort each day in their classrooms and through educational celebrations
  • Communicating with families on student progress as needed
  • Ensure accurate record keeping in ICS data sources; PowerSchool, DNA, New Visions Portal, NWEA, etc.
  • Serve as the primary teacher when the classroom teacher is absent.
  • Actively participating in school and network-led meetings and professional development workshops as laid out in the school and professional development calendars
  • Supporting the school as directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal and Deans

  • Qualifications & Competencies

  • Must be within three semesters of graduating from a college or university with your bachelors degree and / or masters.

  • Collaborative attitude toward teaching and learning

  • ICS desires all candidates to participate in our Teaching Resident Program leading to NYS Teacher Certification and a teaching position
  • Must be on track to obtain teaching certification.
  • Salary / Hours

    Salaries are determined based on ICSs global compensation structure and the ICS Teachers Resident Program. The starting salary for a Teacher Residents is $52,000.
