Job Summary

San Bernardino City Unified School District is seeking passionate, innovative, and dedicated Secondary Visual Arts Teachers to join our creative arts team for the 2025-2026 school year. This position involves developing and delivering engaging, standards-aligned visual arts instruction, providing students with enriching experiences that cultivate creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate visual arts program aligned with the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework.

Present and display student artwork regularly within the school and district community.

Foster an inclusive, inspiring classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and personal growth in the visual arts.

Regularly assess student performance and progress, adapting instruction based on evaluation data and clearly communicating student development to families and school staff.

Effectively collaborate with administration, colleagues, students, and parents to enhance student learning and integrate arts education within the broader curriculum.

Actively participate in Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) events and district-wide art showcases.

Maintain accurate records and fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the site principal.

Qualifications

Valid California K-12 Single Subject Art Credential or Multiple Subject Credential with an Art Supplement.

English Language Learner (EL) Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent) required.

Experience in designing and delivering developmentally appropriate and engaging visual arts curriculum.

Strong knowledge of instructional strategies to deliver balanced and comprehensive visual arts instruction, including technology integration.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven ability to analyze instructional effectiveness and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

Experience showcasing student artwork publicly and fostering community engagement through the visual arts.

Physical Requirements

Capability to actively engage students in art activities, including extended periods of standing and demonstrating artistic techniques.

Adequate visual and auditory capabilities for effective classroom instruction.

Education & Certification Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred.

Valid California Teaching Credential in Art with EL Authorization.

Salary & Benefits

Competitive annual salary : $66,593 – $121,493, dependent on education, credentials, and experience.
