Pay Range: $76,000 - $109,000

Job Summary: The Sr. Product Development Engineer will develop technologies that align with each brand’s innovation priorities. This position will be responsible for development, validation, and transfer of new materials, components, and/or processes to the New Product Development team. This role will collaborate with Merchandising and Marketing for joint development of new mattress systems to support the product roadmap. This position is a highly collaborative role with many cross-functional partners working together to deliver great products. Additionally, the Sr. Product Development Engineer will focus on delivering quality and cost improvements on present constructions.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:

• Development of innovative new components and products which meet platform requirements for cost, performance, and schedule
• Leadership of cross-functional Advanced Development Teams
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to organize and drive issues to closure
• Work cross-functionally with multiple organizations in the company for delivery of robust technologies
• Interact closely with Manufacturing
• Drive engineering solutions and validate design integrity
• Translate customer requirements from marketing into measurable product and technical requirements
• Influence functions across the organization to accept new ideas and concepts
• Coordinate development efforts with 3rd party suppliers on new technologies
• Integration, testing, and evaluation of new materials and components into mattress build ups
• Develop customized test methods; review, manipulate, and interpret data; summarize clearly and concisely
• Coordinate prototype builds and validation testing
• Facilitate innovation meetings internal and external to TSI
• Drive development projects through the Advanced Development Stage Gate system
• Transfer of specs, validation testing, and project documentation to the New Product Development team
• Provide estimated costs for new constructions
• Manage competing priorities and deadlines

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
• 5 - 10 years of new product development experience
• Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Projects, etc…).
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software
• Experience in Solidworks is preferable
• Proficiency in Minitab is preferable

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be capable of performing each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements herein are the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Training/Equipment:

• Familiarity with industry standard test methods (AATCC, ASTM, NFPA)
• Knowledge of foam, springs, fasteners, and mattress assembly

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Fast-paced corporate office environment. Travel to accommodate project schedules, such as program rollouts, will be necessary. Travel is estimated at 20%. Should be capable of lifting at least 40 pounds.
