Conversion Salary Range : $130K-$160K or so (negotiable based on experience; hourly equivalent during contract phase)

SNI Companies is seeking an experienced Controller for a reputable organization in Jacksonville, FL. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering the chance to step into a key financial leadership role with significant influence over accounting operations, reporting, compliance, and organizational financial health.
Position Summary
Under the general direction of senior finance leadership, the Controller oversees general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, decision support, non-patient billing services, and treasury functions. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with GAAP, and the safeguarding of company assets.
The Controller leads the preparation of annual audits, tax filings, Medicare / Medicaid cost reporting, 990 / 5500 reporting, and organizational budgeting. This position also provides timely financial analysis, advises leadership on significant trends, and manages accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of accounting, accounts payable, and payroll teams.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure timely, accurate financial statement preparation.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee disbursement functions and protect organizational assets.
- Provide financial performance insights and advise on cost reductions, revenue enhancements, and trends impacting operations.
- Lead payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Manage and maintain the general ledger and subledgers.
- Prepare variance analyses and recommendations for improvements.
- Review external reports, surveys, and Medicare Periodic Interim Payments.
- Direct Medicare Cost Report data collection and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support merger / acquisition activities including financial integration.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and oversee external audits and implement recommendations.
- Respond to leadership inquiries regarding financial results and special analyses.
- Lead implementation and optimization of accounting, A / P, payroll, budgeting, and general ledger systems.
- Mentor and develop accounting department staff, including Senior and Staff Accountants and Payroll Administrators.
Required Qualifications
