Spring Break Opportunities (depends on school – approx. March)

Summer Opportunities (May-August)

Hours: Full Time- must have flexibility and willingness for overtime

It is our desire to have interns who have a willingness to learn and desire a hands-on experience that they can bring back to the classroom. Additionally, there is opportunity to study and take any certifications required for this field; some examples are ACI Level 1 Certifications and CAPA Certifications.

General Responsibilities:

As an intern in our Quality Control Labs and at our Materials Manufacturing Plants you will be responsible for the testing and inspection of road construction materials and ready mix concrete. This is a hands-on, get dirty, opportunity where hard work ethic, dependability, and eagerness to learn is necessary to have a successful Internship experience and to further enhance your interest in the Quality of Construction Materials.

In the lab or at a plant you’ll be taking and securing samples. This could be done in a variety of ways. There is heavy lifting involved using tools, wheelbarrows and buckets to collect your samples. Once you have the samples you’ll follow the testing procedure depending on the product and you’ll then analyze the test data and take any corrective action to prevent non-conforming products. This would include:

• Testing from Trucks and Plants
• Checking rock/sand moistures
• Help with running lab mixes
• Running gradations
• Additionally you’ll be responsible for learning and documenting proper procedures, accurate computations and reporting all findings throughout the day.

Position Requirements

Qualifications and Other:

• Must have a Valid Driver’s License
• Must have flexibility for overtime
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs
• Strong Computer Skills
• Strong Math and English Skills
• Housing is NOT provided
