Job Description : As an Electromechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of the manufacturing team that builds the units we ship to customers. Your work will focus on small, detailed hand assemblies, including electronic boards, mechanical sub-assemblies, and precision optical components that are glued, aligned, and secured on the bench.
Our systems are deployed around the world to support ultra-secure communications and the future quantum internet. Most projects at Qunnect sit at the intersection of optics, atomic physics, and electronics. In this entry-level role, your primary responsibility will be to assemble repeatable, high-quality modules and sub-systems that become the core building blocks of Qunnects products.
As a salaried employee, you should be prepared to support periods of high volume and tight deadlines, which may occasionally fall outside a standard 9 am to 5 pm schedule. In our highly dynamic and collaborative environment, it is essential that you are coachable, team-oriented, and eager to learn new skills.
This is a full-time, in-person role based in Brooklyn, NY.
Responsabilities :
Perform careful, independent bench work on a variety of daily assembly tasks to meet production deadlines.
Assemble consistent, high-quality components, sub-assemblies, and finished products from assembly instructions, drawings, and build manuals.
Work with small components and detailed hand assemblies, including : 1)Electronic and electromechanical assemblies; 2)Mechanical fixtures and enclosures; and 3)Optical assemblies such as mounting and gluing lenses, mirrors, and related parts.
Use tweezers, microscopes, and other tools to handle small parts with care and precision.
Record and report task progress, issues, and nonconformities in a clear and timely manner.
Collaborate within the production team and with engineers to solve problems and improve build quality and repeatability.
Safely and properly handle components, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
Safely operate and maintain a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, and general-purpose electronic test equipment (GPTE).
Troubleshoot, repair, rework, and test assemblies as needed.
Queue and post-process 3D printed parts as part of the build process.
Identify opportunities to improve Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) of components, fixtures, and tools.
Work with product managers and engineers to create and refine build manuals and work instructions.
Cross-train within the department to learn additional skills and processes.
Complete other tasks as assigned to support production and operations.
Follow all safety protocols, best practices, and company policies, including those described in the employee handbook.
Required Qualifications :
Degree or formal training in Electromechanical Assembly, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Comfort using basic productivity software, such as MS Word and Excel or Google Docs and Sheets.
Preferred Qualifications :
Strong mechanical aptitude and enjoyment of detailed hand assembly work with small parts.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing components and workspaces.
Basic experience tracking and communicating project tasks, status, and timelines.
Familiarity with electronics handling, ESD precautions, and simple electrical systems.
Familiarity with micrometers, calipers, multimeters, and other precision measuring tools.
Demonstrated ability to understand how systems and sub-systems fit together is a plus.
Experience working to high-tolerance specifications is a plus.
Experience with radio frequency (RF) systems or photonics is a plus.
Soldering ability and a basic understanding of electronics are a plus.
Fluency with advanced tools such as CAD or data management systems is a plus.
Compensation : Salary range : $70,000-95,000, commensurate with experience.
