Sports Anchor

KOIN 6 TV / Portlands CW a Nexstar Media Inc. owned CBS and CW duopoly in Portland Oregon is looking for a Full-Time Sports Anchor to join our growing news team. We want a high energy engaging talent who can handle a fast-paced environment.

JOB SUMMARY : Deliver sports news and stories accurately clearly and concisely and in an engaging manner across broadcast and multiple digital platforms.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities :

• Anchor main sportscasts in shows and host weekly sports show
• Contribute daily content for shows on our streaming platform KOIN
• Drive digital engagement by posting relevant local sports stories on our website and social media
• Evaluate sports leads and tips to develop story ideas
• Gather and verify accurate information for stories through interviews and research
• Build network of sources who supply information that allows the company to stay ahead of its competitors
• Present compelling clear creative and accurate live shots
• Organize material and write articles based on the details and information obtained

Specialized Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Education / Experience : Bachelors degree in Communication / Journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience my substitute for education); plus (3) years television anchoring or reporting experience preferred.

Training / Equipment : Operate newsroom computer systems.

Work Environment / Mental / Physical Requirements : High stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news which can happen at any time. Position will require day-to-day multi-tasking as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority. Travel may be required. Work may be performed in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record are required. Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts as necessary including overnights / early morning days nights weekends and holidays.

Must be able to sit conduct phone conversations use email write letters and memos conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups make decisions without supervision make decisions that impact the results of co-workers work near others and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
