We're seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join one of the busiest and most innovative ophthalmology practices in the region.

What You'll Do

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you play a key role in the patient journey-from screening to diagnostics to ensuring readiness for physician evaluation. Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing specialized ophthalmic testing tailored to each patient and condition.

• Conducting preliminary vision and eye health screenings for physician review.

• Reviewing charts, clinical notes, and patient conditions to determine appropriate testing methods.

• Positioning patients safely and comfortably for all exams and procedures.

• Setting up, operating, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment used for imaging, diagnostics, and testing.

• Assisting with patient mobility, including transfers to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and exam tables.

• Identifying equipment issues and coordinating with repair technicians.

• Maintaining quality control, service logs, and inventory according to department protocols.

• Supporting additional clinical functions to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, glaucoma, or related fields

• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)

• Experience working in Epic Systems (EPIC)

• Strong competency in manual refraction

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma required

• Additional certification strongly preferred

• Previous hands-on clinical experience required

• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New Haven, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
