Pay Rate : $17.20 – $22.00 per hour

Schedule / Shift :

Monday–Friday 8 : 00 PM – 4 : 30 AM

Majority night shift. Flexibility required for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.

Job Description :

The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support within the Specimen Processing Department , ensuring specimens are accurately processed, handled, and delivered to the laboratory in a timely manner. This role is critical to quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction and requires strong attention to detail and adaptability in a high-volume production environment.

The SPT I performs a variety of pre-analytical laboratory functions while maintaining strict adherence to safety, compliance, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Perform general specimen processing support functions including A-station, presort, pickup / delivery, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting

Accurately enter data at a minimum of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour

Learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests

Maintain compliance with test ordering regulations that may change daily

Meet departmental productivity, quality, and turnaround time standards

Work confidently and accurately in a biohazard laboratory environment

Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow safety protocols

Communicate effectively with all levels of staff

Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads and priorities

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Required :

High school diploma or equivalent

Strong data entry and computer skills

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced production environment

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred :

Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience

Medical background with clinical laboratory terminology

Prior experience in a production or hospital laboratory environment

Work Environment :

Production-driven laboratory setting

Biohazard exposure with required safety compliance

Emphasis on quality, accuracy, and turnaround times
