Job Summary :
The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Reliability Engineer acts as the subject matter expert for power distribution, high voltage, electrical drives, and instrumentation for the Aramids business at the Spruance site. This role is key to ensuring that electrical equipment and infrastructure is being maintained such that it will perform as needed to meet the business plans and that new projects incorporate electrical and instrumentation reliability into their designs.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Perform reliability studies of electrical infrastructure and make recommendations to assure that units can meet business requirements.
- Serve as the electrical safety subject matter expert for the Aramids business at the Spruance site.
- Work with site landlord on electrical distribution and preventative maintenance activities to further improve the reliability of the electrical assets.
- Help develop and deliver technical training for the Maintenance team regarding E&I equipment.
- Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment criteria and specifications to optimize equipment / system reliability and life cycle cost. Also provide technical support for fabrication, installation, and start-up of new critical equipment.
- Participate in production turnaround teams providing input into needed equipment inspection and repair procedures with potential to impact reliability.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining Equipment Strategy and Asset Criticality program for their area.
- Lead root cause failure analysis for E&I equipment failures that impact safety or production.
- Provide the second layer of technical support for E&I Maintenance Engineers and coach less experienced engineers as needed.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited university. Minimum 3.0 overalls GPA.Advanced degree holders are encouraged to apply.Minimum 5 years of applicable experience.5-10 Years experience in chemical manufacturing environment preferred.Experience with the National Electric Code and NFPA 70E is required.Extensive knowledge of the maintenance and reliability practices of electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, motors, uninterruptible power supply systems, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, etc.General Skills :
Good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.Strong trouble shooting skills.Ability to learn and work independently.Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions including operators, maintenance technicians, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders.DuPont-Aramids is an equal opportunity employer.
