Western Racquet Club, a premier private club located in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Controller / Accounting Manager to oversee the Club’s financial and related administrative operations. This senior-level position plays a critical role in maintaining the Club’s financial integrity, supporting strategic decision-making, and aligning financial practices with the Club’s organizational strategy, culture, and high member service standards.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Controller / Accounting Manager works closely with the Treasurer, Board of Directors, and Clubhouse Manager. The position performs accounting duties and is directly responsible for Accounts Receivable / Payable, Payroll, and Reconciliations, while collaborating with club leadership and HR on financial, compliance, and reporting matters.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee daily accounting operations and all financial activities of the Club
- Directly supervise Accounts Receivable / Payable, Payroll, and account reconciliations
- Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant financial records
- Oversee preparation of tax returns and required federal, state, and local government filings
- Develop, implement, and enforce internal controls; conduct internal audits as needed
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, management reports, and cash flow projections
- Support the development and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic planning and club initiatives
- Attend Finance Committee and Board of Directors meetings and provide regular financial updates
- Oversee payroll administration to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations related to payroll, benefits, leave policies, and required reporting
- Collaborate with HR and outsourced providers on workforce planning, labor reporting, and the financial administration of employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits, without responsibility for supervising club department staff
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required3–5 years of experience in an accounting or finance leadership roleStrong understanding of accounting systems, budgeting, payroll, and tax regulationsProficiency in Excel and accounting software (Club uses Northstar Club Management Software)Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skillsProven ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, boards, and cross-functional partnersSalary & Benefits :
