SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Policies and Regulations — Knowledge of company polices, federal, state, and local laws, government regulations and agency rules that pertain to properties managed.
  • Problem Anticipation/ Deductive Reasoning — Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Written Comprehension and Expression — Ability to read, understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Oral Comprehension and Expression —Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
  • Computer – Ability to develop and maintain computer records in Word, Excel and other software required by TBCC and regulatory agencies. Ability to develop tracking and report forms in Word and Excel as needed.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • A minimum two years of experience in a private golf/resort environment.
  • At least three years of experience in personnel supervision.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, and golf facility operations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications
  • Demonstrated ability to support and develop a diverse environment.

  • The location of the position changes frequently from indoors to outdoors.
  • Work performed outdoors in varying and occasionally extreme (hot) weather conditions.
  • Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
  • Position requires public contact.
  • This position deals with outside personnel such as clients on a regular basis with contact in various forms such as in person, phone, and email.
  • It is sometimes necessary to deal with unpleasant or angry people with the need to problem solve difficult situations.
  • It is necessary to adapt to a frequently changing environment.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, climb, or balance, and stretch.
  • Must occasionally walk around the facility.
  • Must occasionally talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required but this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Golf Operations Manager, the Golf Operations Manager on Duty assists in the successful execution and management of the golf program including supervision of the golf course and Outside Services staff.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Golf Operations Management

  • Assists the Golf Operations Manager with hiring, scheduling, supervision, training, and development of golf course maintenance staff in accordance with company policies and directives.
  • Assists the Golf Operations Manager with the implementation of all laws, regulations and policies regarding, employment practices, safety rules and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor uniform adherence of golf services associates.
  • Daily rounds to inspect golf course, facilities, and golf equipment to ensure staff is maintaining clean, organized, and safe facilities and equipment.
  • Assists the Golf Operations Manager in managing the golf course facilities operations to ensure efficiency and exceptional member, guest, and Associate service. The facilities include, but are not limited to:
  • The golf course
  • Maintenance equipment
  • Golf vehicle fleet
  • Clubhouse grounds and landscaping
  • Sod farm and nursery
  • Open spaces, unused acreage, and areas outside the perimeter of the golf course
  • Other properties or areas as specified by the Golf Operations Manager
  • Assist in managing supply inventory through monthly audits and loss control measures and ensuring that all supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Help to ensure the day-to-day golf course operations run safely, smoothly, and efficiently through a visible management presence and leadership.

Communication and Relationships

  • Effectively and professionally interacts and communicates with senior management, managers, other Associates, vendors, members, senior staff, and guests.
  • Promote harmonious relations among members, staff, vendors, and the community at-large.
  • Enforce club and golf policies as posted on property and in membership guidelines.
  • Communicate timely and follow up, as appropriate.
  • Active participation in required events, required programs, required meetings, and required trainings.
