Base Pay Range :
$41.92 / yr – $62.84 / yr
Responsibilities
Interface directly with engineering teams to collaborate on project scope requirements, alternatives analysis, and improvement.
Perform complex designs with scaled work order maps using AUD and prepare pricing, contracts and easements using DM.
Determine CAD usage and application, as well as file structuring and setup on projects.
Provide support in design, operation, maintenance and safety improvements for assigned systems and equipment.
Draw physical, schematic, and wiring diagrams using Substation standards and symbols; develop single line diagrams independently.
Assign projects to SCE contractors, validate labor hours, and review deliverable quality.
Prepare scaled work order diagrams using CAD and / or Design Manager (DM).
Consult with Substation Engineers to prepare drawings and modifications as required.
Provide training and mentorship to junior designers.
Conduct regular meetings with designers to review company standards and capture work in progress.
Provide direct SME support to process and technology projects – documentation, testing, training, and post‑development stabilization.
Ensure protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets; manage sensitive information with highest standards of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
Three or more years of experience preparing and maintaining detailed design drawings, schematics, or specifications using CAD or CAE software.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in the Electric Utility Industry.
One or more years of experience with Electric Utility Design.
One or more years of experience with AutoCAD.
AutoCAD Certification.
Experience with Work Order Maps, AUD and Design Manager (DM).
Strong collaboration and communication skills with clients, peers, management, and stakeholders.
Additional Information
This position’s work mode is hybrid; the employee will report to an SCE facility some days and may work remotely on others. Employees are required to work and reside in California.
Work location : Santa Ana, CA.
Option for a 9 / 80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40 hrs / 5 days a week.
Relocation not applicable.
As of July 1 2025, this position falls under ESC Local 20 representation; conditions may change pending bargaining.
