Documentation Writer - Mainframe Migration Project

What success looks like in this role :

Overview

A leading organization is seeking a skilled Documentation Writer to support a large-scale mainframe modernization project. This initiative involves migrating legacy mainframe applications and infrastructure. The Documentation Writer will play a critical role in capturing, organizing, and maintaining clear and comprehensive technical and process documentation throughout the migration lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and subject matter experts to gather information on migration processes, tools, and workflows.
• Create, update, and maintain project documentation, including : Migration plans and proceduresSystem architecture diagramsApplication and codebase inventoriesSecurity and compliance documentationUser Acceptance Testing (UAT) scripts and training materialsBest practices, lessons learned, and knowledge transfer guides
• Ensure all documentation is clear, accurate, and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Standardize documentation formats and maintain version control.
• Support the development of training materials for IT staff and end users.
• Participate in project meetings to stay informed of changes and updates.
