Our client is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to join their development firm in Columbus, OH. This is a good opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in real estate development, zoning, land use, and real estate law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities: - Prepare and organize legal documents, such as letters of intent, purchase/sale agreements, leases, easements, and title documents.
- Review legal documents and ensure they agreed to signed term sheets / letters of intent such as third-party prepared purchase/sale agreements, loan documents, etc.
- Support and lead transaction closings, including but not limited to land acquisitions, construction loans and refinances for company development projects.
- Will serve as liaison for the Company and facilitate the closing with legal, title, lenders, and other third parties.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is provided and is accurate / compliant. Communicate any missing information or discrepancies timely.
- Ensure the appropriate Company employees have reviewed and been involved in the key areas of the closing in a timely manner.
- Ensure all signatures and notarizations are obtained correctly.
- Assist with real estate development projects, including due diligence and contract review.
- Support the team with land use and zoning applications, including drafting petitions.
- Conduct title and survey review, preparing summaries and identifying issues that may need resolution.
- Provide general administrative support to the team as needed.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Paralegal certificate from an accredited program (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on real estate development
- Licensed Notary (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of real estate transactions and land development processes.
- Proficient in research, document drafting, and reviewing contracts and agreements.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage multiple projects
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion with ability to identify problems and make recommendations for resolution
- Process oriented and ability to create and/or recommend standard operating procedures
