Lead Phlebotomist
Join our dedicated team as a Lead Phlebotomist! Under the guidance of the area supervisor, you will ensure the efficient completion of daily operations at Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and In-office Phlebotomy (IOPs). Your role will support a safe and professional environment for patients, clients, and colleagues while providing administrative and training assistance to supervisors. This position also serves as a backup for the area supervisor when needed.
Key Responsibilities :
- Travel to client locations on short notice within a designated region.
- Assist in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for phlebotomy services in line with PathGroup guidelines.
- Support the Phlebotomist Supervisor in their absence by carrying out necessary duties.
- Coordinate the activities of phlebotomists in PSCs and IOPs to maintain consistent production and service levels while disseminating important information.
- Provide training, coaching, and feedback on performance evaluations for phlebotomists.
- Conduct site visits as assigned, document findings, and assist with quality assurance audits.
- Welcome customers with courtesy, treating all clients with respect.
- Ensure accurate and timely collection of field phlebotomy and PSC specimens.
- Perform specimen collection following established procedures, providing clear explanations to patients to alleviate anxiety.
- Safely dispose of biohazardous materials according to laws and policies.
- Complete requisitions with precision and maintain accurate patient, specimen, and billing records.
- Research test / client information in the lab computer system.
- Manage laboratory requisition forms and specimen processing effectively.
- Prepare specimens for transport while ensuring integrity and proper labeling.
- Maintain organization of records and documentation.
- Create employee schedules with minimal overtime for supervisor approval.
- Assist with employee time and attendance entry.
- Document daily PSC / IOP Phlebotomy activities.
- Compile monthly statistics and data as necessary.
- Perform clerical duties including filing, faxing, and electronic data entry.
- Approve time in attendance software promptly.

- Answer phone calls with a friendly demeanor and appropriate company representation.

- Assist with inventory counts and report shortages as needed.
- Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety and adhere to laboratory safety protocols.
- Comply with industry security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect sensitive health information.
- Familiarity with Corporate Compliance Program and adherence to all policies, including Privacy and Security policies, is essential.
