Description : Position Summary
The Junior Engineer supports the engineering team by assisting with the design, analysis, and documentation of material handling and racking systems. This role performs engineering calculations, prepares drawings and submittal packages, and assists with plan check responses under the guidance of Senior Engineers. The Junior Engineer is expected to follow established engineering standards, applicable building codes, and Seizmic’s internal processes while developing technical competency and independence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the engineering design, planning, and structural analysis of racking and material handling systems in compliance with applicable building codes and project specifications.
- Perform engineering calculations related to loads, material stresses, seismic forces, and anchorage under supervision.
- Support validation of system components to ensure compliance with code requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Utilize CAD and engineering software to prepare and revise drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Review project documentation including layout drawings, CAD files, geotechnical reports, test reports, and plan check comments.
- Assist in evaluating foundation, concrete slab, and structural steel capacity as required for project designs.
- Support project submittals by assembling calculation packages, drawings, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with plan check corrections by revising drawings, updating calculations, and contributing to response letters.
- Coordinate with internal departments including Engineering Documentation, Submittals, Sales, and Operations to support project execution.
- Participate in project reviews and internal quality control processes.
- Maintain organized and accurate project records in accordance with company standards.
- Follow all safety, quality, and professional standards while performing assigned duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities
Foundational understanding of civil and structural engineering principles.Ability to apply engineering concepts to real-world design problems.Proficiency with CAD software and basic engineering analysis tools.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to interpret technical drawings, reports, and specifications.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow technical expertise.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.Demonstrates attention to detail and commitment to quality.Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not required for this role but is encouraged as a long-term career goal.Prior internship or entry-level engineering experience is a plus but not required.Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.Ability to travel to project sites or meetings as needed.Work Environment
