DESCRIPTION

Otterbein University invites applications for the position of Part-Time, Adjunct Faculty of Biology & Earth Science with a primary specialization in Ecology for Spring 2026. Candidates must have the ability to teach the lecture and labs of a sophomore-level Ecology course. This is a sabbatical replacement position, but there may be other teaching opportunities in the department for academic year 2026 - 2027.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES : Teach 12 - 14.5 workload hours in the Spring 2026 semester. This individual will deliver 1 lecture on Monday, Wednesday, Fridays, and 3 - 4 labs (dependent upon enrollment) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

COMPENSATION : For individuals with a PhD, the current pay rate is $1,071 to $1,224 per workload hour based upon teaching experience in Ecology.

DEPARTMENT : The Department consists of approximately 300 students, 11 full-time and 8 part-time faculty, a laboratory coordinator, and an administrative assistant. It offers majors in Biology, Environmental Science, and Zoo & Conservation Science, including an Aquarium Track, as well as minors in Biology and Earth Science. Many of our faculty and students are also involved with the interdisciplinary programs in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Environmental Studies, and Sustainability. The Department is an active participant in the Integrative Studies General Education Program and offers global education travel courses during the academic year or May term. QUALIFICATIONS

PhD; broadly trained biologist with a specialization in ecology. Preference will be given to individuals that have taught Ecology lecture and labs previously.
