CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Java Backend Engineer position for our client.

Location : Houston, TX

Duration : 12 months

Job Description

We’re looking for a seasoned Java Backend Engineer with solid telecom experience to help build and support high-performance backend systems. If you enjoy digging into complex distributed systems and bringing order to the chaos (the fun kind), you’ll fit right in.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservice patterns.

Work across the full development lifecycle, from requirement gathering through deployment and ongoing support.

Create RESTful APIs and integrate them with internal and external systems while keeping performance and security in mind.

Implement microservice architectures that support modularity, reusability, and resilience.

Partner with DevOps teams to maintain and improve CI / CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.

Collaborate with frontend, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth integration across the stack.

Write clean, testable code and contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and team knowledge sharing.

Troubleshoot and optimize backend components for performance, scalability, and reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

5+ years of professional experience in Java backend development, with a strong background in telecom systems.

Deep expertise in Core Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security).

Strong hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful services.

Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and related architectural patterns.

Experience working with CI / CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with frontend or full-stack workflows.

Understanding of database performance tuning and infrastructure fundamentals.

A knack for improving existing systems and catching issues before they become outages.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
