Medical Setting: Hospital and Clinic both

Job Summary:
A Hemodialysis Nurse is one who will carry out the additional duties of assuming the responsibilities for executing dialysis treatments.

Qualifications:

1. A graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

2. Currently licensed to practice as a professional nurse in California.

3. The candidate must be a Dialysis-trained RN.

4. Previous experience in Critical care experience nursing and/or prior experience in acute dialysis is helpful.

5. Current certification in BLS and/or ACLS.

6. CPR is required.

Responsibilities

1. The nurse must obtain and maintain their own clearance, including Basic Life Support, RN license, and Assaultive Behavior and Harassment Training provided by the facility.

2. The nurse is responsible for the dialysis treatments. Patients are to be dialyzed in order of importance or as otherwise instructed by MD's and/or coordinator.

3. Maintain communication with the Nephrologist on call regarding critical problems encountered while dialyzing patients. Must report to the Nephrologist at the start AND completion of each patient dialyzed in the setting, via secure texting app with patient information, including but not limited to; Name, hospital, any pertinent patient information and updates as requested per Nephrologist.

4. Maintain current and accurate information on all hemodialysis treatments performed. The nurse must document in the post-treatment hospital assessment form (Acumen) for each patient dialyzed in the acute setting or clinic.

5. Take on call responsibilities when assigned.

6. Respond to acute calls within 4 hours as required by contracts with the hospitals. Please ensure that all protocols should be followed.

7. Respond to the requests pertaining to Peritoneal dialysis.

8. Remain with the patient at all times during hemodialysis.
