Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients within 24 hours (or 1 business day) of physician referral; document any delays with clear justification.
• Develop effective treatment plans and obtain physician approval.
• Provide therapy according to the physician’s treatment plan.
• Supervise Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants in patient care and related activities in compliance with state regulations.
• Communicate patient progress, issues, and plans with supervisors and healthcare team members.
• Participate in care conferences, utilization reviews, and rehabilitation meetings as needed.
• Conduct in-service training for facility staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation including evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and recertifications per state and payer requirements.
• Educate families and nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
• Assist with discharge planning and act as a clinical preceptor for CFY / RFP programs and student affiliates.
• Ensure compliance with state practice acts, facility policies, and procedures.
• Supervise CFY Speech Clinical Fellows and assist nursing with restorative aide training when applicable.
