Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients within 24 hours (or 1 business day) of physician referral; document any delays with clear justification.
- Develop effective treatment plans and obtain physician approval.
- Provide therapy according to the physician’s treatment plan.
- Supervise Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants in patient care and related activities in compliance with state regulations.
- Communicate patient progress, issues, and plans with supervisors and healthcare team members.
- Participate in care conferences, utilization reviews, and rehabilitation meetings as needed.
- Conduct in-service training for facility staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation including evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and recertifications per state and payer requirements.
- Educate families and nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
- Assist with discharge planning and act as a clinical preceptor for CFY / RFP programs and student affiliates.
- Ensure compliance with state practice acts, facility policies, and procedures.
- Supervise CFY Speech Clinical Fellows and assist nursing with restorative aide training when applicable.
Education & Experience Requirements
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology.Licensed as an SLP in the state of practice OR meet alternative requirements if practicing in a non-licensing state :Completion of 350 clock hours of supervised clinical practicum.At least 9 months of supervised full-time SLP services post-degree.Successful completion of a national SLP examination approved by HHS.Proficiency in computer systems such as Casamba and PointClickCare.Must maintain an active license in good standing and meet continuing education requirements per state regulations.Skills & Competencies
