Occupational Summary :

  • The Assistant Director of Financial Aid serves as a key member of the enrollment management team.
  • Responsibilities include overseeing advising students on application procedures, awarding, verifying and packaging processes, and resolving concerns and issues.

The Assistant Director will assist with development and implementation of University policies, procedures, and systems; monitoring compliance with all federal, state and institutional policies and regulations; assist with administering state and federal loan programs; and prepare and maintain appropriate records and reports.  Stewardship Statement :

  • This position is responsible for cultivating and maintaining the institution's Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates to transform society.

    • Work Performed :

  • Provide advice and counsel regarding available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements and the application process.
  • Uphold the policies for financial aid which support the goals and policies of the institution and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with the administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid programs to ensure compliance with regulations, guidelines, and standards set by the University, state, and federal agencies.
  • Oversee the financial aid processing of student financial aid records and awarding.
  • Serve on University committees as determined by the Director of Financial Aid.
  • Counsel students and / or parents on all aspects of financial aid.
  • Facilitate workshops on the financial aid process and attends FAFSA nights as needed.
  • Assist with on-campus recruitment activities as needed.
  • Reconcile federal and state funding monthly.
  • Coordinate community Work Study project.
  • Administer and award endowed scholarship funds.
  • Compile and reviews aid appeals with the Director.
  • Complete Return to Title IV calculations and return of funds as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the University information system in relation to financial aid needs.
  • Participate in professional organizations including attending workshops, conferences, webinars, and other training opportunities. (KASFAA, RMASFAA, NASFAA, FSA).
  • Stay current on federal and state regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Assist the Director with compliance issues and resolutions.
  • Completes all University-required trainings including Title IX and FERPA.
  • Perform the SAP process after each term with the Director.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

    • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least three years of experience in financial aid experience in an academic setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of computer and software programs.
  • Ability to stay composed in stressful situations and handle confidential information with care and discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
