POSITION SUMMARY
The Collection Development Librarian selects the physical and digital collections for all ages that are relevant and engaging to the Englewood community with the support of library departments. They are a team player including : supporting service points, acting as person-in-charge as scheduled, promoting materials and services, and engaging with the larger team. The ideal candidate is comfortable with participating in building and refining processes and able to approach work with flexibility and curiosity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Acquisitions 50%
- Selects and purchases library materials for children, young adult, and adult collections in all formats including print, non-print, and digital based on an analysis of community and library data using a variety of resources including journals, media, publishers, and distributors.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts across the library and city to ensure the collection meets the needs of the Englewood community.
- Stays current on library and city programs to anticipate collection needs.
- Builds and analyzes reports to identify areas for enhancement and materials for weeding or replacement based on the Collection Development Policy and Marmot consortium guidelines.
- Makes purchases within budget parameters and shares recommendations for budget allocations.
- Monitors the patron purchase request form and buys materials that are within scope and budget, as available from library vendors.
- Creates and maintains documentation for processes to provide transparency across the department and library.

Models City of Englewood customer service philosophy and library values in all interactions.Provides library information, technology assistance, referrals, and reader's advisory guidance to patrons.Serves as Person in Charge during assigned shifts, monitoring use of library spaces, de-escalating incidents, and coordinating responses with security and other managers.Provides staffing support for Circulation, Reference, and Children's desks as neededMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in technology, including library software, databases, and digital resources.Knowledge of reference services, readers' advisory, and collection development.Ability to assess community needs and develop a responsive collection.Understanding of the Library Bill of Rights and Freedom of Information Act.Education
Master's degree in library and information science from an accredited program or completion of a master's degree in library and information science within six months of hire.Work Experience
3 years of progressively responsible experience in a public library setting preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceCertifications and / or Licensures

$59,261 - $88,892 / Annual Salary
