Experience : Minimum of 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience.

License : Indiana RN license or compact RN license required.

Certifications : BLS required.

Must-Have :

Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience.

Candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in a medical-surgical setting at a facility with over 600 beds.

Description :

This position involves providing general medical and surgical nursing care.

The nurse will see a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease.

Patients may present with GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Infectious diseases such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, and c-diff will also be managed.

The nurse will care for patients with neurological issues including stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries.

Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and substance use will be addressed as well.

Patients may undergo procedures like colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.

General job duties will include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication.

Utilization of electronic health records (EHR) and various medical equipment such as IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, and chest tubes will be required.

Management of heparin and insulin drips and IV therapy is part of the role.

The nurse will float to other medical units as needed, with patient ratios typically at 1 : 5-6.

The candidate must participate in supplemental training and orientation sessions.
