Position Summary
The Process Operator I supports our seed enhancement production process using seed technology processes that meet predetermined quality standards for internal and external customers. The operator supports the production process across one to three areas within the lifecycle of the production process. Day‑to‑day duties range between blending, tanks, dry sizing, seed prep, production office, packing, and shipping and receiving. The operator moves across the production floor and supports the production schedule using their knowledge and skill set across the areas in which they are fully trained and assigned to for their scheduled shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
Blending
- The blending team views the daily SAP schedule to determine what is blending for that day.
- The process orders are released by the blending team.
- The team gathers all components required to blend for the day.
- The team blends the order.
- The team issues all components to the process order.
- The order is confirmed and labels are made and applied to the Tank or Triwalls.
Tanks
Interprets the daily production schedule.Fills tanks with material for the next day following the schedule.Repairs or switches tanks as needed during the day.Ensures binder tanks are always full.Dry Sizing

Seed Prep
The Seed Prep area understands the daily production schedule and prepares the seed for the production process.
Collect seed from the Seed Room or Priming Room based on SAP.Organize seed / order in containers for delivery to production.Use SAP to track and document the process.Production Office
Prints labels using the label printing system.Performs pelleted seed counts following the work instructions; raw seed counts when needed.Posts completed orders in SAP.Generates packing pages in SAP for packaging.Conducts monthly inventories of labels and other inventoried items.Prepares coating cards and seed labels for production personnel.Packing
Reviews the daily “hit list” prepared by the team lead and packs all orders on the list.Gathers the order and information card from the Seed Room.Verifies information card with paperwork for accuracy.Uses equipment to prepare containers ranging from boxes to pails.Sets weights and measurements according to order specifications.Labels each box with the appropriate customer and product label.Prepares final order for delivery by the Shipping Department.Reviews all documentation for accuracy and closes the order with the production office.Shipping and Receiving
Inbounds seed from customers and reviews paperwork.Weighs seed and maintains bag documentation; completes seed count and samples.Records inbound data in SAP.Checks moisture content (RH).Completes handwritten SIR with all information.Inventory seed in sealed bags with documentation for the Seed Room.Scans closed orders to customer service and shipping teams.Determines next steps via SAP (wait for germ lab or ready to ship).Wraps pallets and stages for delivery.Arranges delivery with UPS, FedEx, or XPO.Collaborates with Customer Service to meet customer expectations.Documents the processes using SAP.Manages domestic and international shipments.Other Duties And Responsibilities
Understand seedmanship and watch for contamination; alert supervisor of any problems.Maintain a safe work environment using protective equipment.May work weekends, overtime, holidays, and different shifts.Use ISO Work Instructions for all processes or procedures.Report unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor.Support other departments as needed.Knowledge and Experience (Qualifications)
Minimum one year of production experience.Forklift and pallet jack certified / experienced.Education and Training
High School Diploma or equivalent.Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Computer skills preferred.Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment.Excellent attendance is crucial.Strong organizational skills.Attention to detail.Physical Demands
Able to walk, sit, and / or stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Required to move across production areas on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and ladders.
