SUMMARY

Perioperative nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient-centered care of patients in the clinic and perioperative setting for all patient populations; provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

Patient Care :

• Act as an advocate for the patient.
• Provide consistent, age-specific, culturally competent, and ethical care.
• Maintain privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the patient and health information.

Clinic / Pre-surgery :

Perioperative :

o cardiovascular system,

o respiratory system and airway management needs,

o neurological system,

o hemodynamic stability,

o pain and comfort needs, and

o mental status.

o respiratory / airway management

o pain control / comfort management

o fluid / electrolyte and IV maintenance

o proper positioning

o protection from infection

o maintain normothermic status

o manage patient’s other co-morbid conditions if applicable

o communicating the patient’s current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care;

o performing interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels; performing interventions to protect patient from infection

In this role, your success will be measured by your ability to effectively manage and improve patient care, ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction and operational efficiency within the clinic. Key measures of success include :

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and to talk and hear. Employees may be occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employees must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds along with pushing and pulling on higher BMI patients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to risk of infectious diseases when interacting with patients and / or family members. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
