Role : Principal System Safety EngineerClient : Defense-AerospacePay Rate : up to $100 / hr (W2, non-benefited) Length : 1-year contractLocation : Tucson, AZClearance : Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire Description : -Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses or Design analyses-Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process-Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards-Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program-Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs-Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer's approved equivalent-Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities-Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.-Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds Required Skills & Experience : -Experience with : System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering. Desired Skills & Experience : -Experience in command and control systems and / or weapon combat systems-Experience with DoD System Safety Programs-Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development-Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material -Strong written, verbal and presentation skills-Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel-Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Required Education : Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience.
