JOB DESCRIPTION
Network Specialist to assist OTI with implementation of Network technologies for key IT projects. Relevant experience in routing and switching, and deep packet inspection technology is required. Consultant will be assisting OTI with architecture design planning and implementing changes
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assign port for NetScout management ports and IP addresses.
- Assign port for SPAN port to mirror traffic that needs to monitor.
- Add tap links to the production path without impacting traffic.
- Configure the SPAN port for port-mirroring.
- Configure IP assignments for NetScout devices.
- Validate packet capture on each device and set thresholds for alerts.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered
- Twelve (12) years of experience in the field of networking, routing protocols,
- Must have hands-on experience with BGP, MPLS, OSPF routing protocols in a large environment
- Minimum 12 years experience in deep packet inspection technologies, and roll-out of Netscout Infinistream
- The candidate must be able to follow a hybrid work schedule of 3 days per week on-site and 2 days per week remote
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- nGeniusONE Configuration: Expert-level ability to build Service Dashboards, custom Monitors, and Alerting Profiles based on ASI (Adaptive Service Intelligence) data.
- Experience in MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, iBGP, eBGP, IS-IS routing protocols
- Detailed understanding of deploying management protocols (SNMPv3, Syslog, Netflow,etc.) 4 yrs.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
- Ability to work in cross functional teams; excellent attention to detail.
- Experience reviewing project design and system documents 4 yrs.
- Experience is designing including network architectural designs in MS Visio is desired
- Familiarity with City of New York network infrastructure environments and processes
- Advanced "Packet-level" troubleshooting skills. Must be proficient in deep-packet inspection (DPI) and decoding complex application flows (HTTP/S, SQL, DNS, VoIP/SIP).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel to / from work office(s) and remote location(s), onsite presence for maintenance windows WILL BE REQUIRED.
- Travel expenses will not be reimbursed of any kind. Any travel required in connection with this position shall be limited to the five boroughs of the City of New York.
