Utility Engineer

Overview :

Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe expeditious and accurate handling of merchandise into and / or out of the laundry facility.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions :

Lubrication and cleaning of all boilers heaters pumps and valves. Clean and paint equipment in the mechanical and all associated areas. Repair and maintenance of drains water lines commodes and urinals. Replace the washer on installed plumbing fixtures. Lubrication and cleaning of all types of motors and engines. Check switches and receptacles and replace covers as needed. Unplug toilets and bathroom drains with a plunger chemical or manually operated snake. Clean light fixtures relamp light fixtures. Change filters and clean coils grills and radiators. Assist the Engineer and / or Chief Engineer in the performance of their normal duties. General cleaning in all Engineering Department Areas Vents piping floors and equipment.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Ability to understand all required training written and verbal instructions; Working knowledge of basic math skills; Working knowledge of the use of sewing equipment proper sewing techniques thermo-patching equipment and other tools used in repair of textile material; Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to meet attendance schedule.

Working Environment / Safety Requirements :

Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise. Work is based on a shift schedule and may include weekends. Overtime required as needed. Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions; Requires the ability to move lift carry push or pull merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs; Requires bending reaching pulling twisting stretching and lifting; Requires the use of hands for grasping and other fine manipulations; Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.

Vestis reasonably expects to pay for this position $27.91 depending on circumstances including an applicants skills and qualifications certain degrees and certifications prior job experience market data and other relevant factors.

Education :

A high school degree is required plus some college or technical training.
