Description :

The essential functions of this position include performing magnetic resonance imaging on patients utilizing highly technical equipment and administering contrast materials as required.

Responsibilities include preparing the scan room and patient for examination.

Draw up IV contrast if needed and administer oral contrast if indicated.

Perform a warm-up procedure on equipment and enter patient data along with appropriate scan parameters.

Review patient data to assure proper examination and previous exams.

Interview and screen patients for contraindications prior to having an MRI study.

Explain the procedure and answer patient questions.

Transport patients into the exam room and assist with appropriate positioning for the exam.

Determine if patients are allergic to anything and inject appropriate IV contrast.

Perform scans with attention to positioning and be alert for the need for additional or thinner slices / images.

Utilize correct protocols, coils, restraints, and other materials when scanning.

Assure proper marking with regard to the orientation of patients and enter images with a keypad, paying attention to the order of images.

Prepare records for the radiologist and assure that all clinical information is complete.

Ensure that exam images are in the correct order and provide additional information as required.
