We are partnered with a highly technical DeepTech Research Lab building advanced AI systems capable of operating across complex, real-world engineering environments. The company is well-funded ($40m+), executing large-scale programs, and pushing the frontier of AI systems that can reason, plan, and act reliably in the physical world .

Their platform focuses on enabling intelligent agents to operate end-to-end engineering workflows - combining LLMs with structured planning, deterministic execution, and real system constraints. The team consists of deeply technical engineers and researchers with backgrounds spanning ML systems, distributed infrastructure, and applied AI. They operate in a high-ownership environment where individuals design + ship foundational systems that enable entirely new classes of agentic behavior.

They are hiring a Head of AI to lead & mentor the team. This role sits at the at the intersection of AI research , systems engineering , and applied infrastructure , with a strong emphasis on safety, reproducibility, and first-principles design. We are looking for someone who is a hands-on people manager who can serve as both a technical and people leader.

Key experience required;

• 7+ Years' experience in AI / ML Engineering & Research - people management exp. essential
• Proven leadership in designing and deploying agentic AI systems, including multi-agent architectures, tool-using LLMs, planning / reasoning loops, and long-running autonomous workflows in production environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with large language models, spanning model selection, fine-tuning (RLHF / RLAIF), prompt and system design, evaluation frameworks, and cost-efficient inference at scale.
• (ideally) Experience applying AI to the physical world, such as robotics, IoT, industrial systems, autonomy, or cyber-physical systems - bridging perception, decision-making, and real-time control.
• Strong applied engineering background, with the ability to architect end-to-end AI systems
• Strategic ownership of AI roadmap and execution, including hiring and mentoring senior researchers / engineers, setting technical direction + more
