Responsibilities

• Works as a team member to pick up, move and deliver furniture and equipment and perform set ups of furniture and equipment for events. Occasional assistance with pick up and delivery of Campus and U.S. Post Office mail to meet daily work requirements. Driving University owned vehicles, including box trucks, to job sites will be required for this and most other functions.
• Safely lifts, pushes, and pulls up to 125 percent over the maximum weight requirement per NIOSH to successfully perform job duties.
• Drives UT vehicles, including box trucks, in the performance of job duties.
• Works as a team member to load, transport, unload, and relocate furniture and equipment to collect, manage, and dispose of University property in support of campus clients and departments.
• Demonstrates professional behavior with co-workers and clients to represent Facilities Services organizational goals by abiding by the work rules as described by the Facilities Services Employee Policy Manual and The University of Texas at Austin Handbook of Operating Procedures.
• Clearly communicates written and oral information to and from supervisor and or clients to perform the job's essential functions.
• Operates power and manual warehouse equipment to efficiently load and unload material.
• Assembles and disassembles furniture and equipment in accordance with supervisor's instructions to complete work orders as specified by clients.
• Driving university-owned vehicles, including box trucks, to job sites will be required for this and most other functions.

Required Qualifications

H igh school or GED. Experience following basic work instructions. One year of experience working as a laborer. One year of experience in varied phases of transportation services, including moving furniture and equipment. Current Class "C" Operator Driver License required. Prior to date of hire, applicant selected must provide a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) showing a driving history going back 36 months. This includes all states resided in for the past 36 months. MVR will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a University-owned vehicle. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

A ssociates Degree. More than one year of experience in varied phases of transportation services, including moving furniture and equipment with verifiable forklift operator experience.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$37,440 + depending on qualifications

Additional earnings available through regular paid overtime opportunities

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
