Octagon Talent Solutions is seeking a highly skilled SAP ABAP/Fiori Developer with hands-on experience in SAP Student Lifecycle Management (SLcM) to support a client in the higher education sector. This remote role involves developing and enhancing SAP S/4HANA 1909 solutions, with a focus on usability, performance, and integration using Fiori and Web IDE tools. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
SAP SLcM Solution Development and Integration
Develop and maintain ABAP code to support SAP SLcM and S/4HANA implementations.
Implement responsive, role-based Fiori applications using Web IDE and SAP UI5 standards.
Integrate front-end Fiori apps with back-end S/4HANA data models (OData, CDS Views, BAPIs).
Ensure seamless operation and data flow across higher education business functions.
Developer Responsibilities
Write clean, efficient, and scalable ABAP code using Object-Oriented techniques.
Build and extend SAP Fiori applications using XML Views, Fragments, JSON Models, and custom controllers.
Apply UI/UX design principles to develop intuitive user interfaces.
Create and register OData services for real-time application connectivity.
Use Web IDE or Business Application Studio for front-end development and deployment.
Work with enhancements, BADIs, user exits, and custom reports as needed.
Optimize SQL statements and debug complex performance issues in S/4HANA environments.
Conduct peer code reviews and collaborate with QA teams for test coverage and validation.
Requirements Analysis & Solution Design
Collaborate with functional stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine business requirements.
Translate functional needs into scalable technical specifications and system designs.
Ensure all solutions are aligned with SAP best practices and institutional goals.
Testing and Quality Assurance
Conduct unit and user acceptance testing (UAT) for developed components.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues to maintain optimal system performance.
Documentation and Support.
Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for configurations, enhancements, and integrations.
Provide ongoing technical support, issue resolution, and system improvement recommendations.
Continuous Improvement and Collaboration
Participate in project planning and team meetings, providing updates and addressing risks.
Stay current with SAP technologies and trends, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
3–5 years of hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA (preferably 1909+), ABAP, and Fiori development.
Deep familiarity with SAP SLcM and higher education business processes.
Expertise in:
ABAP Object-Oriented Programming
BAPIs, Enhancements Framework, SQL queries, CDS Views
Fiori / SAPUI5 components: controllers, views (XML), fragments, local service XML, JSON models, images, and CSS styling
Web IDE and modern Fiori application design
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
