Mailroom Clerk

Job Description
A confidential defense and technology organization is seeking a Mailroom Clerk with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to secure handling of sensitive materials.

You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the mailroom, managing incoming and outgoing mail and packages while safeguarding sensitive documents in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Mail Processing & Distribution
  
  
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to designated departments or individuals.
  • Prepare and process outgoing mail, including labeling, packaging, and postage.
  • Coordinate special deliveries and pickups with courier services.
• Security & Compliance
  
  
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all security protocols for handling sensitive information.
  • Keep accurate logs of all incoming and outgoing deliveries to meet compliance requirements.
• Equipment & Supplies
  
  
  • Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, scanners, and copiers.
  • Track and manage inventory of mailroom supplies, reordering as necessary.
• Administrative Support
  
  
  • Assist with general office tasks and provide cross-departmental support as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully functional mailroom environment.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred (not required).
• VantageClear Certification (or equivalent defense/security credential) required.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and carry packages up to 30 lbs.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently in a secure, high-volume environment.
• Familiarity with mailroom equipment and shipping software is a plus.
