SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
About the Role :
This is a highly visible and impactful position sitting at the intersection of database engineering and quantitative application development. You will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining the core SQL Server platform that powers portfolio management, trading systems, and financial data pipelines.
The role goes beyond traditional DBA responsibilities. You will contribute to database architecture decisions, performance engineering, system reliability, and development initiatives across the full application lifecycle. This is an opportunity to directly influence the stability, scalability, and performance of systems that drive investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage SQL Server Disaster Recovery and High Availability environments supporting quantitative financial and trading databases
- Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances across Development, QA, and Production environments
- Design and develop databases, system interfaces, and reporting solutions to support new quantitative investment functionality
- Perform advanced data analysis, SQL optimization, database tuning, and performance diagnostics
- Proactively monitor database systems to ensure secure, reliable, and low-downtime operations
- Collaborate closely with developers on table design, indexing strategies, and query optimization best practices
- Implement and release database changes submitted by the development team
- Apply security patches in accordance with approved maintenance schedules
- Oversee and monitor data processing workflows to ensure operational integrity
Requirements :
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field5+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience5+ years of SQL development experience including packages, procedures, triggers, and scripting in a multi-user production environmentStrong ability to translate business and system requirements into tables, views, stored procedures, and functionsExperience supporting SQL deployments across multiple environmentsHands-on experience with SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurationsExperience in C or C++ is a strong plusFamiliarity with equity market data platforms such as S&P Global, Bloomberg, LSEG / Refinitiv, FactSet, or similar providers is a strong plusWhy You Should Join :
