Job Description : \n\n Requisition ID : req191 Location : Little Lake, United States Banner PrincipalInstrumentations and Electrical Supervisor Ridgecrest, CADescription SUMMARY Responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of power plant and all associated instrumentation, electrical and DCS equipment in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and operating directives in effect. Provides appropriate direction, guidance, training, and supervision of assigned personnel in the accomplishment of company goals and directives. Oversees all facets of instrumentation and electrical systems and associated equipment maintenance. Responsible for the material conditions of each component and ensures that each functions correctly and reliably through programs of equipment inspection, repair, and system testing / troubleshooting. Coordinates with all departments to maintain peak performance of the power plant. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed) - Adheres to, supports and complies with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensures all employees, contractors and visitors conduct themselves safely and within company policies and regulatory guidelines. - Assures proper working environment by maintaining discipline, morale, and employee relations. Prepares performance reviews and assist in salary recommendations and disciplinary recommendations. - Understands and follows proper procedures for control and shipment of all hazardous waste streams. - Directs all instrumentation / electrical / DCS preventative and corrective maintenance, including equipment overhauls and system modifications. - Coordinates with company personnel, outside consultants and vendors to plan outages and new construction projects, ensure proper staffing, correct maintenance problems, startup new equipment. -Provides technical guidance and direction to assigned personnel during completion of repairs, troubleshooting, and overhauls. Provides technical guidance to Maintenance and / or Site Manager. - Documents equipment problems, writes work orders, work instructions and maintenance repair requests. - Ensures immediate corrective action in response to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and to reduce damage or downtime to the plant and its equipment. Calls employees to emergency duty upon assessing plant conditions and determining the necessity for additional support. - Schedules overtime and vacation requests for assigned personnel. Reviews assigned personnel timecards. - Helps identify, schedule, and direct corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance as required on electrical, instrumentation, and / or DCS systems. Helps compile maintenance records and reports, and maintains a daily log. - Reads, interprets, and implements technical information such as electrical drawings, manufacturer’s data, and operating and maintenance procedures. - Conducts crew maintenance technical training and oversees the completions of safety training requirements. - Helps develop the instrument, electrical, and DCS portions of the maintenance budget. Monitors actual costs and compares these costs to budgetary estimates. Provides the necessary supporting documentation to justify any deviation from approved levels. - Trains to improve personal skills and the skills of co-workers related to the job and / or required advancement. - Responsible for completion of special tasks and projects assigned by Maintenance Manager. Supervisory RESPONSIBILITIES Manages non-supervisory employees as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Desired qualifications : Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical equipment, systems construction, capacities limitations, theories of operation and operating procedures. Knowledge of plant design and equipment locations, valve configurations, and normal range of flows, temperatures, levels, etc, for common production levels. Knowledge of complex instrumentation and automatic control systems. Safe use of tools, plant safety rules, probable causes of equipment and systems malfunctions. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and water treatment systems. Standard knowledge of electrical test equipment and troubleshooting. Intermediate to advanced computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software. LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals; prints and engineering data; interpret charts, graphs and gauge scales; troubleshoot equipment and system problems; and interface with others. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, use a radio, and be able to speak effectively before groups of people. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Valid California Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
