Controller Position

Viridian Staffing's client is looking for an experienced accounting and financial professional to become the Controller for a fast-growing Cannabis company in the Victorville, California, area. This position does require working on-site Monday-Friday from 8 am - 6 pm.

As the Controller, you'll be able to use your entrepreneurial spirit and your desire to greatly contribute to the success of the accounting / finance function by wearing multiple hats. This role provides you the opportunity to touch all aspects of Accounting and Finance from the preparation of financial statements and implementing SOPs to ensuring financial & regulatory compliance and analyzing and reporting on the financial performance of all divisions in the organization. As an integral member of the team, you will facilitate cross-departmental relationships and will work on special accounting / finance projects to help the company achieve results. You bring with you experience in accounting software, such as Quickbooks online, that has assisted you in preparing complex journal entries, auditing inventory / sales systems, balance sheet account reconciliations, and in the preparation of annual audits. In previous roles, you have successfully managed and maintained cost, financial, and managerial Accounting systems and worked closely with external partners to ensure compliance.

If you have a bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting or relevant degree (MBA preferred), combined with a minimum of 3+ years' of experience as a Controller handling FP&A, this could be the right position for you. You also have experience managing a small team. You preferably bring with you experience within the cannabis, alcohol or other heavily regulated industry, start-up experience, and have some experience with distribution. Ideally, you are also a CPA, but should have at least 6+ years of financial experience. You have a successful track record and expertise in identifying and driving value in an organization, as well as a reputation for being a trusted business advisor who fosters strategic organizational improvement and success. You have a strong interest in overall business operations, and you are a big-picture thinker who is comfortable and effective working both at a strategic and a tactical level, and you enjoy both! You will also be bringing with you an advanced Excel skillset and have the ability to learn new systems quickly, as you'll need to learn METRC (track and trace system) and other systems if you are not already familiar.
