About the Role
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is seeking a Technical Writer to support the Customer Contact Organization (CCO) by maintaining, improving, and publishing business process documentation used by customer contact employees.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development (70%)
Serve as a CCO SME for General Reference by reviewing updates and changes submitted by business partnersResearch and resolve process issues and submit updates with clear, step-by-step process guidanceIdentify improvements to existing processes already incorporated into General ReferenceEnsure process documentation is accurate, logical, and easy for end users to followProduct / Content Management (20%)
Publish approved business process documents into the Front Page application for General ReferenceEdit and reformat content into a clear, concise, and user-friendly formatPublish updates to the “What’s New” page as neededMaintain an accessible archive of historical process documentation for research and legal referenceUse Excel, Word, and Outlook to track, document, and manage update requestsProcess Improvement (5%)
Analyze existing processes to determine which call guides need updates or retirementProvide recommendations to improve clarity and usability of communications and process stepsPartner with team members on “How-To” guides to ensure content remains currentResearch, test, and resolve process issues submitted through the General Reference mailboxRespond to mailbox inquiries within 1 business daySafety (5%)
Demonstrate leadership in safety through active participation in safety programsProactively identify and help correct safety hazards and unsafe work practicesComply with PG&E’s “Zero in on Safety” standards and complete all required trainingMinimum Qualifications
Strong written communication and editing skillsExperience with Front Page or other web / content publishing toolsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookExcellent logical and critical thinking skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and unclear documentationAbility to work independently with minimal direction
